A video game I am playing, reprise
Samurai
Warriors 5, on the PlayStation 5 (this time)
Yes, I am
playing an almost 3-year-old game, again! If you have
read my stuff before or at least known me for a minute, you would (or
should) know that I am a sucker for the musou formula
popularized by developer Omega Force. Starting with Dynasty Warriors 3,
to Samurai Warriors, the Fire Emblem Warriors, Hyrule Warriors, etc.
Hacking and slashing your way through thousands of enemies, there's
something very satisfactory about it. There was a running joke at the
GameStop store I used to work at, since every iteration of these games,
was pretty much the same thing but a slightly different
different coat of paint.
In fact, this game, I played it
almost three years
ago on the Nintendo Switch. And today, in the year of our lord,
2024, I am playing it again and on a different system. To be
honest I don't remember when or why I purchased this game again, this is
not something new however, I tend to own the same game on different
systems at times. And most likely it got purchased at a discounted
deal.
Yet, here we are. This time around though, the
intention is to unlock as many trophies as I possibly can, even as far
as even try to "Platinum" it. I have never been as obsessed with
Trophies on the PS as I used to be with achievements on the Xbox. In my
gaming career (😅) I have Platinum 2 games, Ghost of Tsushima, and my
most recent one, Spider-Man 2. So now I am on sort of a mission to get
as many of these on games that I already own and I am familiar with,
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge for example. I have
even been playing with my oldest in coop, and yes I own this game,
digitally, on the PS and Switch, and also a physical copy from Japan.
Anyway, I am having as much fun as I did the first time, and
have been rewarded, in some way, for it.
Why the obsession
with trophies now? I do not know. Will it fizzle away?
